About me

I’m Yannis Larios, an Independent Non-Executive Director and AI & digital strategy advisor with deep boardroom experience across European banking and payments. I am fit-and-proper approved by the Bank of Greece and have served for the past eight years as Vice President of Viva Payments and Board Member at Viva Bank.

Over 13.5 years at VivaWallet Group, most recently as Senior Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, I led strategy execution, merchant acquiring, payments innovation and go-to-market across 24 European markets, translating strategic priorities into growth initiatives, partnerships and execution.

Earlier, I served at governmental level as Senior Advisor to the Government Secretary for Digital Greece, contributing to the design and delivery of Greece’s Digital Strategy 2007-2013, and as Vice President of the Independent Observatory for Digital Greece. I began my career in strategy consulting.

Today, I work with regulated and technology-driven businesses across Greece and Europe as an Independent Non-Executive Director and advisor on AI and digital strategy. I bring independent challenge, board-level oversight across Technology, Innovation, Audit and Risk, and decision-ready thinking that links strategy to measurable outcomes.

I also advise banks, payment service providers, fintechs and enterprises on how to turn AI into stronger products, leaner operations and better controls. I am the creator of AIPO™, a strategy methodology for governing AI as a portfolio, not a project, helping leadership teams prioritise the right opportunities, test them with discipline and scale what works.

I hold a degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from NTUA and a PhD in Financial Engineering, focused on financial risk modelling in deregulated energy markets. I am currently enrolled in Stanford’s Generative AI & Business Program.
