About me

I’m Yannis Larios—an Independent Non-Executive Director and AI & digital strategy advisor with deep boardroom experience across European banking and payments. For the past 8 years, I’ve served as Vice President of Viva Payments and Board Member at Viva Bank, fit-and-proper approved by the Bank of Greece.

At VivaWallet Group, where I spent 13.5 years as Senior Vice President of Strategy & Business Development, I led strategy execution, merchant acquiring, payments innovation, and go-to-market across 24 European markets, from prioritizing growth initiatives to building the partnerships to deliver them.

Earlier, I served at governmental level as Senior Advisor to the Government Secretary for Digital Greece, coordinating ministries and stakeholders and contributing to the design and delivery of Greece’s Digital Strategy 2007–2013. I also served 6 years as Vice President of the Independent Observatory for Digital Greece. I previously worked in Strategy Consulting.

I am available to serve boards in regulated and technology-driven businesses (banking, payments, fintech, digital-first enterprises) across Greece and Europe. I bring independent challenge, technology & AI governance, and decision-ready reporting that ties strategy to measurable outcomes. Experienced with Audit, Risk, and Technology/ Innovation committees and available for INED appointments.

I am an Electrical & Computer Engineer from NTUA, with a PhD in Operational Research (financial risk modelling in deregulated energy markets), and currently enrolled in Stanford’s Generative AI & Business Program. Through my advisory services, I help banks, payment service providers, fintechs, and enterprises turn AI and digital strategy into shipped products, leaner operations, stronger controls, and profitable growth—by choosing strategically selected high-value moves, running successful pilots, and scaling what works.
